After much research, the project to create a Conservation Area began in Feburuary 2002.This project has been to make improvements to an area of old pasture which had become redundant and uneconomical to use as grazing land, and transform it into a wildlife area. With the adjacent habitats being predominately pasture, improved grassland and woodland, it was an ideal situation to create a site with the potential to support protected species such as Great Crested newts and other important species. With the sites natural contours and woodland setting, it especially lent itself to the development of two small lakes, and a small environmentally friendly pond.

Fishing Pool

It has been important to us to create an area accessible by all, especially allowing easy access for the disabled, giving them the opportunity for fishing for Carp, Rudd and Roach in the lakes, and enjoying the abundance of wildlife. And if you enjoy fishing, you will be pleased to know in recent months 5 more pools have been created! To be in keeping with the objectives of the project, all benches and picnic tables are environmentally friendly, having been made from recycled materials.

Support for the project was obtained from DEFRA under the Rural Enterprise Scheme, and the Hereford Nature Trust.
